It takes a lot to be a good manager.

Attention to detail, thorough knowledge of the job, patience and most of all diplomacy.

Yup, we here at the Grind think diplomacy’s tougher than patience.

If you’ve ever worked in customer service, you know what we’re talking about.

Strong sedatives can help you fake patience. Some can help you fake a chirpy mood.

But no narcotic can give you the ability to gently (and nicely) tell a subordinate they’re a lazy idiot instead of shaking them until the stupidity falls out.

We’ve tried.
